Cogeneration in Municipal Swimming Pools

In terms of energy efficiency and promoting best practice within the municipality, the seven requests for connecting to the national grid cogeneration systems installed in Municipal Swimming pools were approved by the Directorate General for Energy and Geology.

The objective of Lisboa E-Nova is to produce electricity for sale to the grid, and local consumption of thermal energy generated for heating of sanitary water in the context of optimizing the thermal output of solar panels already installed. The size of these systems is under study, as well as the business model to contractually between the Lisbon Municipality and potential partners.
