Lisbon Alliance: A Boost to Energy Efficiency in Lisbon!
Lisboa E-Nova has secured funding from the ELENA programme, financed by the European Commission and managed by the European Investment Bank. ELENA provides technical assistance for the development of investments in energy efficiency and renewable energy in buildings and urban equipment, through energy efficiency investment programmes exceeding €30 million, with an implementation period of three years.
The project submitted by Lisboa E-Nova, “Lisbon Alliance – Accelerate pubLic buiLding renovatIon And public lighting eNergy effiCiEncy”, is worth €1.6 million, 90% of which is funded by the programme, and aims to generate €44.6 million in energy efficiency investments. This project contributes to the city’s climate neutrality goals, in line with the “Climate-Neutral and Smart Cities by 2030” Mission, in which Lisbon is a participating city.
As part of this project, in the initial phase, Lisboa E-Nova will provide technical assistance in preparing projects for Lisbon City Council, Lisboa Ocidental SRU – Urban Rehabilitation Company, and Gebalis – Lisbon Municipal Housing Management, in the renovation of both residential and non-residential buildings, as well as in the improvement of energy efficiency and intelligent control of public lighting points. This is expected to result in a 63% reduction in energy consumption.
This funding will also strengthen the internal technical capacity of Lisboa E-Nova and enable the hiring of the external experts required to mobilise energy efficiency investment programmes.
