The VIBE project – Valuing Impact through Behavioural Engagement – promotes the circular economy in an urban context through the development of Urban Resource Centres in various European cities. These centres will be local hubs dedicated to repair, reuse, recycling, education and community engagement, bringing citizens closer to more accessible, practical and integrated circular solutions.
At a time when cities face growing challenges in the efficient management of resources and waste reduction, VIBE aims to support the organisation and coordination of existing initiatives, such as repair shops, second-hand markets, recycling centres, awareness-raising activities and reuse services. The aim is to create a more coherent, visible network that is tailored to citizens’ real needs.
The project combines urban planning, behavioural research, citizen-centred communication, pilot initiatives for community engagement, and an assessment of the climate impact associated with the reuse and repair of materials. This approach will enable the development of replicable models for Urban Resource Centres, capable of supporting the transition to a circular economy that is closer to people and local areas.
In Lisbon, Lisboa E-Nova is involved in developing and adapting this approach to the local context, helping to strengthen urban circularity, improve citizens’ access to reuse and repair services, and support the integration of these solutions into municipal sustainability policies and practices.
